Indian Captain Rohit Sharma announces Retirement from T20I

After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma announces retirement from T20I after winning the final match of T20 World Cup against at Barbados.

Rohit stated: “This was my last game as well. No better time to say goodbye. I wanted this (trophy) badly. It’s very hard to put in words. This what I wanted and it happened. I was very desperate for this in my life. Happy that we crossed the line this time”.

Rohit’s retirement signifies the conclusion of a remarkable T20I career, during which he achieved the title of the format’s top scorer, accumulating 4231 runs across 159 games. He also boasts the distinction of scoring the most centuries in T20 internationals, with a total of five. His T20I career started with the first T20 World Cup in 2007, where he played a crucial role in India’s first championship victory. Currently, as the captain, he has guided India to their second championship, further solidifying his legacy.

For Rohit, this victory was especially meaningful, as he had faced numerous ups and downs throughout his journey in cricket. His success served as proof of his strong leadership, ability to bounce back, and steadfast resolve.

ICC Titles Drought

Today Team completed the ICC Titles drought by defeating South Africa in the final match of T20 World Cup 2024 at Barbodas. India won the ICC titles after 13 years of long wait and this is India’s second T20 World Cup title. The first T20 World cup, India won was in back 2007 in the leadership of M.S Dhoni.
