England vs West Indies 2nd Test

England vs West Indies 2nd Test: England Dominated day 1 with Ollie Pope’s century.

An exciting day of Test cricket unfolded, with England turning the tables on the happier side. Scoring 400 runs in a day is not uncommon under the Bazball leadership, yet it remains a thrilling spectacle. The day began with some incredible batting from Ben Duckett, which really established a strong momentum for England.

A century from Ollie Pope and following impressive half-centuries from Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes, England found themselves in a leading role, scoring more than 400 runs on the first day of the second Test at Trent Bridge. England maintained their pace throughout the day, similar to their recent performances under Ben Stokes, and ultimately ended with a total of 416 runs by the close of play.

England didn’t have a decent start as Zak Crawley got out on duck. But later Ben Duckett smashed 71 runs of 59 balls. Duckett has hit thrilling 32 ball fifty which broke the record of scoring fastest fifty by team in test.

After the break, the West Indies raised their hopes when they were able to cheaply dismiss Joe Root, but Harry Brook immediately responded with a strong comeback to reverse the situation.

Kraigg Brathwaite, the captain of the West Indies team, mentioned after winning the coin toss and asking England to bat first, that he was looking for his bowlers to show more control after suffering a significant loss in the first Test at Lord’s. Although they occasionally put England’s players on edge, the West Indies team was too careless with their bowling and fielding, allowing England to score too many runs.

At a certain point, England was on a roll at 342/4 with Stokes in a strong position for a century. Yet, as the game progressed, the captain made a mistake with a half-tracker, missing the opportunity to secure enough ground to be caught at the ground’s edge.

Here is the Brief Score of England vs West Indies 2nd test (Ollie Pope 121, Ben Duckett 71, Ben Stokes 69, Alzarri Joseph 3/98)
